Everyone puts off making a will. We have about 25 million private houses in the UK and about 70% of them are privately owned. By contrast only 30% of people bother to make a will. Dying without a will (Intestate) can cause many unforeseen problems for those you leave behind.
– If you are not married or in a civil partnership your partner will not automatically inherit from you when you die
– If you are married or in a civil partnership and you have not made a will your partner will only inherit the first £250,000 of your estate and the rest will be distributed between any children when they reach 18.
These are examples of what can and does happen.
